Salida claims a wealth of nonprofits, but few provide as much cultural impact in the community as Articipate, the music education organization that hosted its Eighth Annual Articipate Showcase Thursday, Dec. 15, at the Salida High School auditorium. The free event highlighted Articipate’s diverse program offerings through a variety of musical performances featuring marimba bands, Rok Skool bands and professional musicians Leon Joseph Littlebird and Trevor “Bones” Davis, music teacher and Articipate co-founder.

Wooden Rain (Adult) and Wooden Raindrops (Youth) Marimba Ensembles: Participants learn the social, physical and mental skills necessary to perform in a large musical ensemble and to write and choreograph quality performances. Both programs meet weekly, run in partnership with the Salida Community Center and perform at community and regional events.

The Wooden Rain and Wooden Rain Drops curriculum instills integrity, accountability and strong social skills and is designed to be easily replicated in other communities. Now in its 4th year, Wooden Rain and Wooden Raindrops have had over 30 members and performed to well over 1000 people.
